I'm not known for my steady hands. So a 2 second exposure to capture some fireworks with no tripod can look pretty interesting. I like how this one turned out. You can see a slightly more steady shot here.

hey Natalie.. nice pics. It is amazing that you managed to get a good shot with a 2 sec exposure without a tripod. I can never do that. I'm sure your pics would have been fantastic if you used a smaller aperture and a tripod. If you are interested, here are my July 4th fireworks. This was my first serious attempt to shoot fireworks.

I think fireworks pictures are much more interesting like this. The orange one looks like a tiger lily.

Yeah, like that a lot. Vibrant colours and slight blur give it real dynamism.

at first glance it looked like a night shot of some exotic flower.

I prefer the freehand shot... great color and abstract feel.
